Emergency Communications
The Challenge
Hurricanes, tropical storms, tsunamis, and floods – these are just a few of the natural disasters that required rapid emergency communications. As the area was facing a natural disaster it was important to provide information and reassurance to help keep people safe during the emergency. The fact that the vast majority of the people in the target audience were new to the area heightened the importance of communication information on ways to prepare, locations of emergency shelters, and where to turn for current information as the situation evolved.
The Solution
Working with our military partners and our management team, I was able to create a series of emails designed to educate, reassure, and provide up-to-date on the latest news related to the emergency. Empowering individuals with steps they could take had a great positive impact on them before, during, and after the disaster.
To reach as many people as quickly as possible, I also posted these messages on our Facebook pages and websites. Because the information targeted people living in different neighborhoods and islands, emails were tailored to provide each group with the most applicable and helpful information possible.
